Hampton Roads HubSpot User Group April 20, 2017 Meetup Recap

The late afternoon sunshine blazed through the windows of ol' Board Room 105 in the Slover Library. Inside, temperatures soared into the mid-70s and the light was so bright that it caused occasional squinting. 

Instead of panicking, HUG co-leader Douglas Burdett reacted quickly and distributed official HubSpot eye protection. We were so happy that our corneas were safe that we took a selfie! (see above)

We adjusted the thermostat to "meat locker" and waited for that rush of sweet, cooling air. I felt relief knowing that it wasn't going to get much hotter since the sun had taken off like a coward and headed toward the western horizon. Eventually, darkness came to Downtown Norfolk and we stopped worrying about that giant ball of gas.

The sun was California's problem. We had serious marketing issues to discuss.

HubSpot Academy Professor Courtney Sembler gave a presentation called "Contacts: Best Practices for Better Marketing & Sales Results."

NOTE: If you're wondering why we didn't just post the entire videos of the presentation, it's because it's still on our to-do list. After listening to Courtney, we've been furiously scrubbing our contacts (and our client's contacts), just in case she shows back up to do a spot-check with white gloves! We are working to make more video available soon.

In keeping with Hampton Roads HUG Meetup tradition, the end of the evening was marked by the ceremonial "Giving Away of the HubSpot Swag." All attendees helped themselves to a plethora of orange HubSpot pens, and a few lucky so-and-sos left with free sunglasses and a copy of "Inbound Marketing." Ashlie Jones of Eternal Works was the big winner of an Amazon Echo Dot!
